Visiting Kampung Budaya Sindangbarang in Bogor

Sienna Little Explorer in Kampung Budaya Sindangbarang Bogor

Are you planning to travel with kids to Bogor, Indonesia? What else can you do other than going to the Botanical Garden and having a culinary fiesta there? I have an option for you: visiting Kampung Budaya Sindangbarang in Bogor is a must!

This place is not only beautiful, but also full of local wisdom. Here, you can learn about West Javanese culture (Sundanese), taste the local food, and also create and play some traditional games that have been around for ages! You can also learn some traditional musical instruments and enjoy the traditional music performance, too. Isn’t it cool?

Don’t forget to ask the staff about the meaning of the musical instrument, the architecture of the house, and other things. I’m sure you go home with a better understanding about the culture in West Java!

Sienna, my 22 months old toddler, had a blast running around in the green grass yard, touching and playing with the “gamelan” and “angklung” (traditional music instruments), and making a simple traditional trumpet made of palm tree’s leaf!

We’re also very lucky to witness “Angklung Gubrak” traditional music performance! This giant “angklung” – a traditional music instrument from West Java, is almost extinct. The people who are able to play this instrument is already quite old. Sooner or later, we’re afraid that nobody would able to play and even want to produce this musical instruments anymore.
